Correction on MAP. 2#'s of boost is 34in of MAP. Forgot to convert from
Hg to psi.

Ken,

I am putting a Renesis 4 port in my RV10. The decision to choose this
engine over the 3 rotor was based on using all new parts and future
availability. Also the much calmer exhaust.  I am also installing a
Eaton M62 4th gen blower (should) provide about 4#'s of boost (75% duty
, large pulley) . Manifold pressure will be capped at 32" based on
warnings and recommendations Bruce T and other professional engine
builders. The Renesis uses 10:1 compression rotors. Several of the RX8
drivers using the Greddy turbo kit producing 6# have blow apex seals.

This is what I am expecting from this engine installation.

100- 120 lbs lighter than the IO540 RV10.    + 10 hp
4 psi boost available for normalization to 8000 Ft.    (now equal to the
IO 540 at 8K)
Custom low drag cowl. The shop that builds the cowls for the F1
TeamRocket will be building my cowl. Estimated HP gain from less drag.
+5 hp (swag)

The engine is being moved out 5" for W&B. Fred at Conversion Concepts is
building my mount. He medical condition has improved so I think he will
be back in business very soon. I know he is purchasing new shop
equipment. MT electric PROP 15" spinner 3" spacing. Same as used on the
Rockets. $9600 ouch!

Stock 4 port Renesis at 7500 rpms.  220 hp HP (chart shows 228 hp)
32" MAP  (2# boost)              +  29.94 hp
Drag reduction (skinny cowl)       + 5 hp
Weight recovery  -100 lbs           + 10hp

Expected performance HP                   264.94 hp  sea level.

If a 3 rotor renesis was available I would have chosen that route. I am
hoping that one of the racing shops will make a 3 rotor center housing
and shaft available since they now have one racing. Or... The 16b may be
an option in a few years.

Bobby Hughes
(waiting on engine mount and finish kit)

Having read a bunch of stuff on this forum and other places, one
question still nags in the back of my mind.

I'm building an RV-10, Vans recommends a Lycoming 540 producing 210 -
260 HP.  When considering the possibilities of a Mazda rotary, obviously
the ultra sexy choice is one of those 3 rotor 20b's.  But in a recent
post Bill Dube pointed to a Renesis RX8 13b 6 port engine on e-bay where
the seller states 250HP.

You know where I'm going....

Can a 13b built and configured to put out that HP in a RV-10 last, be
happy, etc.?
