Yes, Steve, actually at the time it happened I didn't
know about the fire - just knew I had a brake problem - but when I smelled the
burning resin I knew exactly what had happened. That resin does burn
well. There was a moment when I thought I was going to loose the aircraft
given that the fire was burning below and behind the wing fuel tank - but
fortunately got it out before it more than scorched the paint.

Ed,
Those are amazing pictures. When I had heard about the brake fire, I
envisioned something with a whole lot less flames than that. I'll bet
that incident was more than just a little exciting.

For those of you who may have wondered why all my
activity on brakes after my June Brake line rupture and fire. I
finally managed to find the SW to capture a frame from the video my nephew
took of the incident.
Here is a shot of the fireball which when fully
expanded rose above the wing as I depressed my right brake pedal and shortly
before I went off into the ditch. Other two photos shows the smoking
remains in the ditch - in one you can see the bright green antifreeze fluid
my nephew pour on the flaming wheel pant which brought us sufficient time to
get a fire extinguisher and put the fire out.
I had the time used the start to get the
prop horizontal before going into the ditch, but couldn't help but grab it
and pull it through a few times afterwards just to convince myself it
was still in one piece {:>).
