Yeah, this is
what I figured too and I had all kinds of documentation to back-up my
statement that clamps were unnecessary, but he didn't care. I think he just
wanted to put a check mark in the box beside hose clamps on his inspection list.
So we compromised by using the safety wire.
It's always sounded like the Canadian inspections were
a bit more thorough than ours. In reality, the inspectors are only
required to make sure you followed the rules for placards, proper instruments,
paperwork, etc. They will certainly make recommendations of things to
change, but the guy I use has inspected 3 of my planes before, and I know what
to expect. He will listen to reason I think. If not, I'll put the
clamps on, then take them off when he leaves
:-)
Actually
I must admit that I did have a couple of spots where this hose is used but
doesn't connect to the standard push-lok fittings in which case I did use a hose
clamp to connect.
Yep, I'm going to have a
couple of those too, but only for things like coolant lines through
the air separator tanks and such.
This is becoming a real sore spot for me. I have just over 50
hours on it, but it's been now just over a year since I've flown
it.
Sorry to hear the tale of
woe. I didn't realize it was quite that bad. Since I sold the RV-3,
the weather here has been absolutely perfect. Figures... Good luck
with
everything.
Cheers,
Rusty (single rotor
intake, exhaust, etc)
