Most interesting, I was not aware of the D585.  I had a failure of a D581 which I attributed to the higher under cowl temps I got with the Renesis (vs 2nd gen 13B).   In my quest to keep the coils cool I ran into many other mysteries but that is an unfinished story for later.

Bob, the only advantage I can see to the D585 is the metal heat sink might
make it less susceptible to high under the cowl temps.  I recall losing my
leading ignition coil early on due to the fact that a resistor in its base
apparently could not take the continuos high rpm load and heat.  But, if no
one is having problems with the D581 then probably nothing to be gained.
