I'm also waiting to see the EWP prove itself, but at least over here we're open to the possibility. The RV-3 has a Davies Craig EWP in series with the mechanical pump. The only time I ever ran the EWP by itself, was during a ground test. I was reluctant to fly it because I had to remove the alternator belt to disable the mechanical pump. That also meant that the EWP only got 12V, rather than the normal 13.8V or so that the alternator feeds it, which does make a significant difference in the performance of the pump. Despite that, it appeared to work just as well as the mechanical pump during a high power ground run. I had every intention of running a pair (one and a backup) of EWP's on the single rotor Slingshot, but there was no installation advantage to be gained in this case. I had a brand new water pump housing assembly, and no conflicts with space to install it. In fact, mounting the EWP's would have been far more trouble than using the stock pump in this case. Now if I put a single rotor in the Sonex... (not that I would of course, wink, wink, nudge, nudge). Cheers, Rusty (single rotor should be running in about a month) Hey, how am I doing with convincing? :) ------=_NextPart_000_00D0_01C5D433.A80AFC40 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Message
