Ed,
I tend to agree, but I can't help but wonder why GM added the heat sink.
Possibly there has been enough failed D581 coils to justify the extra 5
cents per coil.  Just a thought.

Bob, the only advantage I can see to the D585 is the metal heat sink
might
make it less susceptible to high under the cowl temps.  I recall losing
my
leading ignition coil early on due to the fact that a resistor in its
base
apparently could not take the continuos high rpm load and heat.  But, if
no
one is having problems with the D581 then probably nothing to be gained.
