Good news today.  The OAT finally dropped out of the 100s to the high 80s!  At just under 90F OAT I was able to climb at WOT, 120 mph to 9000 msl, and never got to 200F on the coolant (Oil even less).  Cowl flap was at mid-position.  As it turns out, the flap is hard to CLOSE after it gets about 2/3 closed.  I guess the flow is trying to open it at that point, because the only way to close it is to pull the nose up and slow to 80 or less, retract the flap and lock it!  Cruise speed is the same whether it is fully closed or about 1/3 open.

Next step is a change of linkage.  Thinking of using a threaded rod run by an electric screwdriver!  I love Home Depot.

Your temps are pretty good.  My oil will go a little over 210 under the conditions you listed. A cowl flap would probably improve this but it is easy to keep it lower by backing off to around 23" MAP.  ROC is still over 1000 fpm at that setting so it hasn't been an operational problem.   At around 90 OAT I can use WOT in climb.
