THAT circumstance sounds like an excellent opportunity for a class action suit. Not about punitive or ego-based damages, just to FIX what they DIDNT build right.

My wife (before I met her) had a computer in her BMW go out.  She drove through a moderate puddle of water and splashed water onto the case that holds the computer.  It stopped right away and cost almost $2k to replace the computer.  BMW would not support the repair despite the car still being under warranty because it was "water damage" despite several letters to BMW America.  Apparently there were having a problem with hundreds of cars with the same problem and didn't want to pay the piper.
