Jim I think this is true regarding coolant, but not oil. The engine quickly seizes if you pump the oil overboard. I am basing this on Ken Welter's experience, who had oil cooler connection failure two times I believe.

Right you are Hans.  When my oil cooler split, I reduced throttle within just a few seconds I believe.  From examining the engine later, it was clear that a seizure was immanent. I think I heard that you could go maybe 20 seconds at high power before the side housing executed a suicide squeeze play on the rotors.  
 
The good news (according to Ken), is that you can let the engine cool for a short period of time, then crank it again for another burst of power, and you can repeat this as needed to help stretch your glide.  This is a very good thing to keep in your bag of emergency tricks.
