In order to have truly redundant EC2s would require a 3rd CPU to monitor the two controllers and automatically switch the failed unit off.  Then what is going to monitor the 3rd computer?

As a little side interest the guys at Mistral are using a computer that does exactly that. That is, it automatically switches between computers at failure. Expensive but nice for certification. There is a test circuit that checks BOTH ecu's before startup.

That's a great feature - I'm sure Tracy will get there eventually.
I think Mistral's is 3 or 4 thousand dollars?
