Turbo is in,  after I had everything installed I noticed a small possible interference issue with the larger compressor housing and the intake...  so had to take it all apart and do some grinding (bout 2mm).

It is back on, cooling system is flushed cleaned and dried, Evans coolant is in.  It will take another week or two to finish up the fabrication of the new air scoop which is going to feed cool air to the last 1/4 of the rad. and to the turbo intake.

Still trying to find a good solenoid valve to use on the oil feed in case of turbo failure.  I need a normally open valve.  Several companies have such a valve listed on their web sites but they do not seem interested in selling me only one valve.  Most other retailers only sell normally closed valves.

I also know that I am going to need a bigger prop.  I have decided on a 3-blade in the hopes of making my wife more comfortable in the plane.  I have pretty much decided on the Catto, but they have a 4 month lead time.  I am really having to force myself to wait until after I fly with the new turbo before ordering the prop..

I have also pretty much come to the conclusion the porting the engine makes a BIG difference in power output - turbo or otherwise.  I just got my spare engine irons back from being ported and they look great.  Next is to get the rotors covered in ceramic, and probably a balance job as I feel that may have never been done with my current counter weight (that's why I was looking at counter weights on e-bay).

... Just got an e-mail back from a company willing to sell me a single valve:
I obviously would recommend such a valve for those considering using a turbo.  Does anyone want one now while I am ordering?

Thanks Dave,

If anyone needs this, grab it now.  If it's still there in the morning, I'm going to snag it in case I every use my second RD-1C drive for something other than a single rotor.

Cheers,
Rusty

PS- how did the turbo installation go?
