So this leads me to question whether the Tiny
Tach will work either. I guess Rusty will answer this question
soon.
Good to hear all (except the tach) is going so
well. I finished pro-sealing the tank senders and covers in
place, as well as adding the fuel return fittings. I'm copying
Tracy's fuel system, except for using the right tank instead of the
left. I went ahead and added an additional return fitting to
the left tank cover since it was so easy to do now, and I'll just put a cap
on it, possibly forever. If I ever change the system and need to
return to either tank, I'll have the fitting
ready.
I received my Tiny Tach today, and it looks as I
expected. I ordered it directly from tinytach.com Monday via regular
UPS. Those guys are a very trusting bunch. There's no place to
enter payment info on their web page, and you see a note that says an invoice
will be mailed when the order is ready to ship. I figured that meant that
I'd get an email asking for credit card info when they were going to ship, but
amazingly, they ship the order the same day they (snail)mail the
invoice. In my case, the tach beat
the invoice here.
As for the tach, the red wire that you wrap around the
spark plug wire is 10 inches long. The instructions say to wrap it around
3-4 times, then cut off the excess. I'm thinking that I'll wrap it 4
times, and leave the excess sticking straight out away from anything else.
If I recall correctly, my wires are a suppression type, so I may need to wrap
the red wire a few more times. If it works perfectly at 4 turns, I'll cut
it off. My plan is to be ready to run it again by next weekend, assuming
the pro-seal looks cured enough to put fuel in the tanks, so look for a report
next weekend.
BTW- I just ordered a boost gauge too. I may try
to find a place to permanently install this, depending on how the MAP shows up
on the EM-2. If it's not on the main screen, I'll have to keep the boost
gauge, since that's going to be something I'll need to be able to look at any
time I adjust the throttle, at least while I'm sorting out the turbo
control.
Cheers,
Rusty
