Speaking of temporary gauges, the
tach output of the AC-2 is supposed to be 12 pulses per revolution. I’m
assuming that’s something that’s used only for the EIS, and not for normal
tachs. Do you just tap into a fuel injection, or ignition lead for
normal tach pulses?
Sorry to talk to
myself here, but I think I just realized that I don’t need to hook up a
temporary tach. I have an optical tach, and should be able to read the
prop RPM from the cockpit (I did this to verify the tach on my previous
RV-8). I’ll just have to do the math. I’m still a little curious
where you hook up a regular tach to the engine.

If
you are using the Mazda coils, you can use the yellow tach wire from the
trailing coil which gives 2 pulses per rev. Works with most 4 cyl.
Automotive tachs.
If
using AC Delco coils, the coil trigger signals from the EC2 give 1 pulse per
rev.
Of
course the EM-2 reads the rpm directly from the EC-2 serial data
link.
