I have a James aircraft rotary cowl for my RV7. I have not got it
installed yet though. I am not using the Powersport package, and the only
issue with the cowling is that it was made to fit the powersport package,
which moved the prop forward 2 inches. I spoke about this with Will James
(Sam's son), he said the cowl could be cut and refiberglassed to fit the
location of the standard Vans prop location, or use a two inch prop
spacer. I was originally going to modify the cowl, but after seeing the
excellent workmanship or the glass, I couldn't do it justice, so I have
decided to go with a two inch spacer (Tracy has no objections to using a
prop spacer by the way). I am using a Conversions Concepts Mount for my
Renesis engine, and am waiting it return from the powder coaters. I am not
sure of the prop location on the cowl for the RV8, but if you call Will at
James Aircraft he would be able to answer that question for you, he was
very helpful to me.

Hope this answers or at least helps with your question.
