Well, Bill, we certainly met that definition of formation - actually,  I think we were  a bit tighter than that - but not by much {:>)-

Hey, they're all in the same frame, and the photo wasn't even taken from a satellite :-)

I'm really luck to have so many military, and ex military pilots in my area.  My RV-8 buddy used to teach formation flying when it was in the Navy, and he taught me the basics when I had my RV-8.  I also have some Air Force instructor friends with RV's as well.  For my initial training, I had an AF Colonel in the back seat of my RV-8, practicing with a Navy Commander in his RV-8.  I think the most it cost me was lunch :-)

The biggest challenge so far was flying with my RV-8 buddy, and a third RV.  The third plane was an RV-3, flown by a retired F-14 pilot, who was a runner up for the Blue Angels team.  That guy was awesome, and didn't let us get away with anything.  We even ended the flight with a "fan break" over the field.

I REALLY enjoy formation flying.  It's the most fun I've had in a plane.  I have GOT to get the RV-3 flying again...

Cheers,
Rusty (not that good, but I love it)
