Isn't WD-40 water based (or water soluble)? Would a Silicone spray be better?

Hi! Todd
If can take the cable wire out of it's sleeve , take it out clean it with fine sandpaper , lube with WD40. If not just try to get WD40 in the sleeve from the top. If your spring doesn't bind you should have a permanent repair.

/*Subject:*/ [FlyRotary] Heater valve
I managed to get out to the airport today and I took a look at the heater valve. When I disconnected it from the push/pull cable, I was surprised to find that it is still as smooth as the day I installed it. So it seems to be a good heater valve after all. But the cable on the other hand is not very smooth at all.
Since I was already armed with a selection of compression springs, I went ahead and installed one as per Georges suggestion and it works great to overcome the cable fricton. However this is really just a bandaid as I will replace the cable. I'm using the same cable for the floor/vent selector and the Matco parking brake with no problems but they both have a little better routing, so I'll likely just buy another of the same and re-route it.
I just thought I'd pass it on that the simple, cheap heater valve is still functioning well.
