Hi, Rusty....I agree with what Bernie had to offer. I have
found that by
just covering the aluminum piece with duct tape prior to
clecoing it on
works great. Duct tape is a wonderful release agent.

Thanks for the
comments. The one thing I've learned about fiberglass is that it won't
stick to duct tape. That's the only release agent I use.
BTW, what's this carb crap? If it
works out for you, I'll probably be interested in buying your MicroTech.
Cheers,
Rusty
Hey, Rusty....I bought an aircraft HA-6 carb. Ron Gowan is
using one on his 13b powered LongEZ. Runs very smoothly, no flat spots
or hesitation on throttle-up. Since it is an MS aircraft carb, it has a
mixture lever, of course. I'm thinking if we can get this PM magnet
alternator thing going, I can seriously reduce my current draw by eliminating
EFI and two high pressure fuel pumps. I ran my engine again today (with the
MicroTech....also has no flat spots or hesitation. Did a couple of aborted
takeoffs, trying to get some confidence back in the engine/fuel system.
So far, it has good acceleration. I had reinstalled my (restrictive)
small aircleaner so I could run it up and not suck in any sanding dust from
the new ram air intake scoop I made. Next I will remove the air
cleaner (now that the cowling is clean and free of sanding residue inside and
out) and see what kind of static rpm's I get as well as what the rpm's
end up at rotation speed. Now, I have to design ANOTHER manifold (for
the carb). Just trying to keep up with your manifold record. Paul
