Tracy - well, the overall picture is to fly faster than you, and, believe me, you're way ahead of me on that (who knows what code you're writing in your controllers? "IF TAILNUMBER = N3773 THEN SET MAX RPM = 5000"  :-)
Anyway, my big goal is to get something running, which is actually a pretty big deal for me.  I discovered recently that in the entire city of Portland with 100+ RV's being built, that no one except me now has attempted to rebuild a Slick magneto.  They are dirt simple inside.  Pretty sad.  No wonder I have given up on the local chapter.  They can cook a good fly-in breakfast, and know a lot about $15000 EFIS systems, but not much help or support otherwise.
My headers are welded in and out.  I've heard two stories as to having them coated.  Tom says racers do it after running them to get them sort of normalized.  Others say 321 doesn't need it.

Dang it Kevin, slow down, your getting ahead of me!   Looks real nice though.  My original headers were welded just like yours (on outside of flange) and I only had one minor crack that I fixed.  The racer guys recommend welding pipes on the inside of flange and I did that on the Renesis manifold.  Too early to say if it works better or not.

I have my engine upside down right now while I work out oil cooler location.  My welder gave me some 321, so that's why the front rotor has an additional weld.  That plywood box is a spintech muffler mock-up, although it's not in place.  I plan to run it against the fire wall.  With my belly scoop I can't run the exhaust down there (damn!), so it will go out the side, a la turbine engine I guess.  I was lucky to have the welded up part able to slide on around the engine mount, easy to forget when you are playing with individual pieces.
