Finn, I am sure you know this but the pm ALTERNATOR is just that, an
alternator. There are no brushes since there is no excitiation coil. There is
just the diode pack and the regulator. You might get a coil failure sometime but
it is unlikely. You can blow a diode just like a standard alternator, and the
silicon in the regulator could fail. The failure mode of those items follows the
typical bathtub curve, most likely in the first few hours or way down the
line.
