It was changed at the request of Bruce Turrentine. My engine was built up by him, several years ago. Sometime in the ensuing years, someone had a problem that the oil disable pellet was found to not be the right length, and Bruce sent me a note that the pellet had to be changed. At the Rotary Roundup in Lake City this year, he gave me the new pellet to install.  It looks identical to the old pellet, *except* that the small diameter portion is a little longer.

Thanks Bill.  I just hung up with Bruce, and he feels that I have nothing to worry about.  He said your engine was built about a year and a half before mine, so he's almost 100% certain that mine got the new pellet.  He also said that there was a very noticeable difference, and even my cursory comparison between the two would have shown this if I had the old one.  He also mentioned that Tracy flew for about 800 hours with the old pellet, and underdrive pulley.   According to Bruce, you'd see a reduction in oil pressure, particularly when warm, so I'll look for that when I crank it.

I don't suspect I have a problem, but I'm glad you happened to mention it.

Cheers,
Rusty (falling behind schedule for this weekend's cranking)
