Rusty, a PM alternator won't experience the overvoltage problems
of a standard one.
Thanks, but that wasn't
really the question. I would have two alternators, and would want to be
able to test them individually during preflight. Also, I'm using the EM-2
as a voltage warning, so if either alt was working, I'd have no alarm.
I'm still not all that crazy about having
dual alternators. I'd like to see the e-shaft alt putting out enough for
primary duty, and perhaps it can, particularly if they can "stack"
them.
