Jesse,
Leon is right about the beer, but what he doesn't know is that Fosters is readily available in the States - mind you it's made over there under licence for local tastes and tastes nothing like the real Fosters. I really hated to tell you that!

The Southerners have a little trouble getting used to XXXX beer and sometimes refer to it as barbed-wire. Where as the VB is a lot milder taste.
To me, Fosters in the States tastes like Bud.

When I was in the US last a barman asked what beer I wanted - I told him it didn't matter! Or something to that effect!
George (down under)
Yo Jesse,

Thanks for the support about the "mule" concept.  I've been doing it this way for 30 years.  Works!!

Real Men downunder drink VB (Victoria Bitter -  even in NSW),  or if you come from Queensland (like George),  XXXX (Four X) is the only lubricant.  Fosters drinkers are now only one step removed form the Chardonnay Socialist Set.  Blokes downunder haven't been drinking Fosters since Barry Hunphries started dressing in drag (as Dame Edna). Even Les Patterson,  our "Cultural Attache" is a spirits man.  So yes,  you are a victim of TV hype and deception (pardon the pun!!).

As for engine tuners in the USA,  I never thought that yanks were backward about coming forward to tell all and sundry how good they are. (}:>)  Downunder,  "modest yank" is a bit of an oxymoron. (ACRE's comptroller immediately comes to mind!) Then maybe we only get the brash extroverted types here on holidays ??  (Unlike all the really nice polite considerate and helpful people who are on the Fly Rotary list!).

Cheers,

Leon

Leon: I couldn't agree with you more.  I personally think you need an old rx to run your aircraft engine around on the street also before worrying about tuning for flight.  Just personal opinion; but, I know they not only seem to do better but it is a heck of a lot easier to cost to the curb and walk home.

you mean foster's ain't ozian for beer ? has my tv lied to me again/still ?

I'm sure that there are a bunch of people in the USA (being the home of hot-rodding),  who are far cleverer than I, and are equally adept at the "black art" of tuning aftermarket EFI systems.  The trick is to find one in your neck of the woods.

actually the trick is to find one who will even admit it and be honest about it, if there is such; then the rest gets easier.

With new motors,  my preferred way of running them in is to stick them in a "Mule" and just drive around for 600 miles / 1,000 km or so.  It's not just the miles/time.  It's the process of multiple heat and cool cycles which allows everything to "snuggle in".  Obviously this isn't practical for most people.  But I do get the best results with motors that have been carefully bedded-in.  They tend to last longer,  and run "sweeter".
