The thinking is that the engine displays or cycles through an example of its total displacement with one revolution, that it is at least similar to a 2 cylinder two cycle engine. So to compare it to a 4 cycle engine, they turn it over twice, as is required for a 4 stroke engine to display its total displacement. At 6,500 RPM, my Bridgeport 12A had 139.6 foot pounds of torque and 173.3 HP at 12.13 A/F and .666 BSFC. This is with a Weber two choke IDF carb with two 36MM chokes. Max power is at 9,400 RPM 136.7 foot pounds of torque and 244.9 HP at 13.8 A/F and .645 BSFC. The engine is not built to operate at 6,500 but 7,500 to 9,600. We just pass through 6,500 leaving the pits, and then again after the race. Lynn E. Hanover
