It wasn't my intention to imply that Tracy's unit wasn't being successfully used - only to compare its numbers against the smaller number of flying MicroTech units. Indeed, when I get to the point being ready to start the engine, I intend to buy a unit from Tracy. But I also expect to have to do *a lot* of tuning, before it's ready to transfer to the airplane. Paul was expressing concern that tuning the MicroTech was out of his reach. The Mazda ECU already comes with good maps; and it "learns" as it goes, IIRC. Am I correct in understanding that the default maps on Tracy's EC2 are regularly being updated? Can they be transferred to older controllers? Via firmware updates? As far as spontaneous mid-air shut-down goes, has that ever actually happened to anyone flying the factory ECU? What sort of things won't it "like", that could cause a shut-down? Perry, are you out there? Regards, Dale R.
