Subject: [FlyRotary] oil return banjo fitting?
Hey Chris,
That is what I need too.  I can't even get a banjo fitting on the home-brew mount I am making (if I actually use it). Made to mount hole too close to the engine (20/20 hind sight).  Was thinking of cutting the head off of the mout bolt that is adjacent to the oil return port and weld on a steel plate for a head, this may let me use a regular and possibly stronger bolt.
Wendell

Rusty,

You were looking for a banjo fitting for the oil return line from the cooler.  Here’s another option to avoid the engine mount.

Take a metric-to-AN fitting, M18x1.5 to AN-10 male and cut it in half.  Drill out each half slightly and insert a piece of 5/8” 4130 and braze.  Very strong, easy to get on and off, and avoids the engine mount (looks close in this picture, but length of tube determines how much you’ll miss the mount).  3.5” of tubing will work well.  You’d think it might break, but if you have about ½” of the tube brazed inside each end (2.5” of exposed tube), you’ll see this is strong and well supported from within the engine threading.  The 5/8” 4130 I used was 0.62” wall thickness, leaving the interior at ½”, preserving the AN-10 flow rate.  Took about an hour to make.
