   Well - considering the original terms under discussion
$800 might have been about "par", rather than a "gift".  It
didn't include "tuning" - other than maybe playing with
the mixture - just verification: an engine run, with readings
every 100 RPM, so I could chart the torque and hp curves of
my "finished" engine.

   Anyway, it's a moot point, considering his current policy.
