the weight of the wastegate, weld up the opening and use a pop-off
valve,
then
control the boost below the pop-off pressure using throttle. This is
what

Richter did, and it worked for him, so I think I'll go that way. DO

have
any pressing reasons why this wouldnt work?
Single point failure mode leading to immediate engine failure. A blow
off valve in a car is for instanteous relief when shifting and off the
gas, but the wastegate is also working with it, just slower. A blow off
valve is an emergency device, no more no less.
