On the FD cars with the two front mounted oil coolers, may owners frequrently installed carbon fiber "screens" to protect the fins. Bugs, rocks, rain, snow, ice, and sand would bend them-in fact all of them I have seen out of cars are bent! The screen helps mightily. Don't know if it restricts air flow at all. I installed screening in my car, and it works without any temp difference in the oil (I have an oil temp gauge in the car). I did not consider using screens on the airplane because I thought there was no "debris" in the air. Maybe I ought to rethink this. I know there are big bugs down low!
