Bugs, rocks, rain, snow, ice, and sand would bend them-in fact all of them I have seen out of cars are bent! The screen helps mightily. Don't know if it restricts air flow at all. I installed screening in my car, and it works without any temp difference in the oil (I have an oil temp gauge in the car). I did not consider using screens on the airplane because I thought there was no "debris" in the air. Maybe I ought to rethink this. I know there are big bugs down low!
