John, even a hose pipe ( if the nozzle is set on a thin stream) can/will easily flatten cooling fins.  This was learned after learning not to hose the radiators with a power washer.

Nope. I did wash the lower cowl while it was off, but only with a hose pipe. 
Surely I couldn't have.....
