“Don’t need no stinking $65 RB plug wrench” to get the B9EGV plugs in a gen 2  13B. The plugs are 20mm wrench size which it just a dibble over ¾ inch. I had a ¾ in deep thin wall socket that I had ground down thinner for an earlier project. I simply ground the flats down a tad on the plugs in about 15 minutes with a  4 in grinder. It all worked out fine, but did not get to try a start today before darkness arrived.

The best I could determine if the plug washers end up the same thickness after use, then the depth of the plug should  be exactly the same as the stock plugs so hopefully they will not scrape my apex seals :>(

If I end up using these plugs full time later, I will consider Lynn H’s suggestion to remove the eyebrows on the block, but really like to know why Mazda went to the trouble of putting them on before grinding them off.
