I am using 2 1/8" dia .035 wall thickness 304 SS.  Forgot to mention that each 4 foot muffler weighs 6 lbs 8 oz.  I could probably knock that down to a bit over 4 lbs each on the next one. I might also shorten it from 48" to 36".  I believe that going to a 3" dia tube would work even better - but $$ start to go up pretty quickly with those sizes - also couldn't find any 3" dia discs of the right thickness and reasonable prices.

No drawings of the discs at this point, they started out as 2" dia SS washers for 1/2" bolts.  Also we'll have to see how well they hold up.  The last time I purchased a header insert (which did reduce the bark) made of mild steel, the exhaust had reduced them to 1/2" chucks of twisted metal in about 1 month time.

By the way, Rusty, do you think you might try to make the RV flyin at LakeLand in Jan??

The mufflers consider of two 2" dia tubes 4' long with sound attenuating discs inserted.  Each muffler hangs off of my two header pipes and extend back under the fuselage with the exhaust exit dumping behind the cockpit area.

Sounds interesting.  What are the tubes made of (mild steel, 321 ss, etc)?  Any drawings of the discs?  I'd love to eliminate the weight and drag of the Spintech, but it sure does hold up well.  Good luck with the new design.
