Hi Thomas,
My reason for trying the EWP's is installation related.
1) The top of the engine is very close to the cowl on my plane. The
alternator will have to go on the cool side, and I will have to cut the
stock WP down drastically to have enough room for the fittings.
2) I don't like the location of the WP. It's sitting right at the top
of the engine so that there are pumping problems as soon as the coolant
gets a little low. I bought one of Paul Lamar's remote mounted pump
castings to fix that. If I could leave the alternator at the top, I
would put that pump on the side and forget about it. Putting them both
on the side is going to get complicated.
The EWP's will solve my installation problems. Will they solve the
cooling problem? I'm willing to spend a few hundred dollars to find
out. If it dosen't work out, I will have to figure out how to make the
RMWP (remote mechanical water pump) work. If I can't figure out how to
do that, I'll go back and cobble up the stock pump. Anyway, that's my
reason for trying it.
