All I can tell you about is car, motorhome use; but, 20/50 runs hotter and cuts milage when/if compared to 5/30. Why do you not think it would not do that for aircraft use as well ? ?  I know 20/50 castrol worked much better in experimental with lycoming than aeroshell 100 did; and, that was a long time ago, too.

I've been reading these post with great interest.  As luck would have it, I had started out using Mobile1 5W30 oil, and switched to the 15W50 after I decided that the 5W30 was too thin. 
 
When I changed oil, I saw a 10 degree increase in oil temperature.  I thought for a few minutest hat it was due to the oil, but then discounted it and figured that it was due to something else.  I was making allot of changes at that time.
