I had planned to attend a couple of fly-ins during the next 6
weeks. Won't be doing that due to hurricanes, possible floods,
power out, etc. The rotary roundup fly-in is still planned
but it depends on what the river does. It will take at least 2 weeks to
get an accurate idea of what will happen. Takes a long time for the
water to get here from Georgia Stay tuned.

Sorry to hear about the damage to your
aircraft. Sounds like it could have been worst - small consolation as
it is.
Thanks Ed, but you're right, it WAS much worse for
a lot of folks. I can fix the rudder and aileron in a good
weekend of work, and should have the parts by mid week. Total cost
$150 :-)
The cowl is a bit rougher than before. It wasn't
on the plane (when is it ever <G>), but was just sitting in the
middle of the floor. When I first saw the hanger after the storm,
it was sitting right where I left it, even though the walls and doors were
blown open. I thought that was mighty odd, and later I noticed that it
looks like I tied it to the truck, and dragged it a few miles.
Apparently, it departed the hanger, and tumbled for some distance across the
ramp. Someone downwind recognized it, and put it back in my hanger
before I got there.
The Kolb Slingshot is out of the picture as
well, and I've actually surrendered the data
plate, airworthiness cert, and registration to the FAA due to the
damage. The plane will be rebuilt, and flying again by about next
Summer. Again, this is not so bad, because it will actually be
easier, and cheaper than building from scratch, which is what I had planned
to do before I found this one for
sale.
I presume this effects your
attending the SERFI at Evergreen,AL next week end. I think I am going
to try to make it. I know Tracy had intended to attend at one time but
that could have changed given all you Florida folks have been through.
You presume correctly. My current plan is
to forget all the fly-ins, except for Tracy's. There's still a
possibility I'll make it.
Cheers,
Rusty
