If you want to check your cooling systems pressure and don't want to
permanently  install a Schrader valve, what you can do is hook up a small
hose to the hose barb fitting on the radiator cap fitting (the overflow
tube).  Hook up a schrader valve (or just stick a air tube into the hose)
and use a compressor to pressurize your system.  The pressure will blow past
the cap and into the system and when you remove the air source, the pressure
should be retained by the system.  Don't put too much pressure, I would stay
below 25 lbs as you can cause leaks past your water pump seal with too much
pressure.

I remembered finding a Schrader valve (tubeless tire valve) with male 1/8"
NPT threads on one side.  I bought one thinking this would be a neat way
to
check pressure and perhaps bleed the cooling system of bubbles.
