FWIW, someone was just telling me about Innodyn turbines (http://www.innodyn.com/aviation/products.html ). I think I'd probably spend my $35k on one of those (if I had $35K to spend on a new engine).

You'd have to convert the RV-3 to giant scale RC model to carry enough fuel. Their rep at SNF told me their -4 is burning 14 GPH at 140 mph (about 80-90 hp).
