But ATP, the diesels and all the other failed engines were attempts to develop a new engine. Mistral are using the tried & tested 13B as a base, so "all" they had to develop were the peripherals. Seems a much safer bet to me. Looks like they've done a nice job of it too. Financial strength for the long haul will make or break them. Ten years from now they could be the engine of choice for single engine GA and used Lyc's might be everywhere for $3000. I don't think the strength of the dollar has much to do with the price. Mistral are probably bright enough to know that you have to price for the country you're selling in. I think they set the price about right.
