I just got back from Scotland a couple of weeks ago; everything seems REALLY expensive to an American. The exchange rates really make the dollar weak. So yes, Mistral is very expensive, but at least 1/3rd of that is due to an undervalued dollar. And I agree, we are not their intended market - I just hope that there are enough of those Lycoming guys who decide that that the lower cost of ownership makes it work it because I really want to see Mistral succeed.

I think you'll find that Mistral is targeting the certified market. No intelligent businessman would target us. :)
They have a better product with a 50% higher (proposed) TBO and (probably) lower maintenance costs. They don't need to undercut Lycoming, and probably shouldn't go that route. It'll take time, but if they prove and certify their product, and have the financing to stay the course, they could do well with the current pricing.
