check for foreign debris in the inlet too.

Heck, see if the inlet fitting even has a
hole in it. I've found AN bolts with no threads, platenuts with no
threads, Aeroquip type hose fittings without threads, and even washers without
the center punched out. AN hardware ain't perfect
:-)
