That certainly does sound like a dangerous game to
be playing, Al.  Can you get a miniature aligator
clip on the wire?  You can get a box of crimp on
clips from the Rat Shack that have an insulating
sleeve over them.  Add a clip to each end of a piece
of scrap wire, and you can have enough lead length
to be safely away from the HAS (human appendage
shredder).
