OK, without stirring up a hornets nest-- could I safely run a rigid oil line to the redrive and back if both ends were rigidly engine mounted?   
 
I suppose you could, but I don't think I'd recommend it.  Lycoming sends out there engines with a nice, ridged stainless tube that runs from the front of the engine to the prop governor, so I guess it's alright, if don't properly.  I currently have a piece of aluminum tubing on the front of my C-drive oil return, and it's already making me nervous.
