Has Tracy (I mean Laura) announced the dates for this year's

I
hope to. tom phy will join me, so I'll have an autopilot!
it's always a crazy time of year to cross the whole US VFR, but that's
the challenge. learned all about radar shadows in Nevada last year
(so that's why there weren't any storms showing there). it took me
four days to get home last year after having perfect weather for the
entire trip down.

tommy - here in portland we recently saw the merger of the homewing,
an independent entity, with EAA chapter 102, which, as you can well
imagine, carried a lot of politics with it. it made me realize that i
really don't have a need for the local chapters anymore, since the
knowledge that used to be dispersed locally is now available tenfold via
the internet. i now belong to chapter 782 and even publish their
newsletter, but for technical info it's back to you guys. one of the best
learning experiences i've had so far was an unscheduled (my insistence
actually) evening in tracy's hangar, pulling parts off the shelf and
talking about how they all work.
