        I took one of these metering pumps apart today and I would have to say that your assessment of it is 100% on the money. And that it will spring return to minimum flow when disconnected from linkage. Ed's theory of altitude affects seems logical as well.

        So I may just leave mine off and go with pre-mix. Even though I was against this originally, it seems to be the best way to ensure that my fuel range doesn't exceed my oil range.
